Zeenat Aman on Gender Gap in Bollywood: Bollywood veteran actress Zeenat Aman has made many revelations on social media regarding gender discrimination and equal pay in Bollywood. In an Insta post, the actress talked about the discrimination she faced when she was the highest paid actress in the 70s.
Fee not equal to hero
Jeenam Aman, who gave blockbuster films like ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, has been involved in Bollywood’s very bold and glamorous actress. Jeenam had achieved a high position in the film industry with her acting and dance. In that era, Jeenam has also been the highest paid actress of Bollywood. Despite all this, the actress had to bear the pain of gender discrimination and unequal pay in the country and industry.
Even today the problem of unequal pay remains
In her latest Instagram post, Jeenam Aman has revealed many secrets related to Bollywood by sharing a video related to the shooting of Qurbani film. The actress wrote that a lot has changed in the Hindi film industry in the last few decades. However, the ‘problem of unequal pay on the basis of gender’ still remains.
Shared BTS video of ‘Laila Main Laila’
Zeenat wrote a long post in which she said, “In the late 70s, Keith Adam of the Australian Broadcasting Commission came to the sets of the film ‘Qurbani’ where I was rehearsing for the song ‘Laila O Laila’. Here I Gave a short interview as well.
Did not get fame even after being the highest paid actress
The actress wrote, “It’s been nearly 50 years since this footage was shot and the industry has changed a lot since then. Roles for heroines are no longer just decorative. What hasn’t changed though is the gender pay disparity.” problem. I was hailed as the “highest paid actress” in my time, but there was a laughable gap between my own male co-actors and my salary.”
This change is still needed in Bollywood
Opening the black letters of the film world, Zeenat wrote, the Zeenat you are seeing in this clip was quite sure that even half a century’s time would be equal to the scales. That’s why it disappoints me that even today there is no equality in the salary and fees of female actresses in Bollywood. Women have worked continuously and I really feel that the onus is now on our male actors, directors and producers to pay equal fees to female artists. It’s such a simple and obvious thing, but if someone did it, it would still be revolutionary.”
